SJRWMD to discuss Matanzas River Basin
Written by Staff
Tuesday, 25 November 2008
PALATKA – The St. Johns River Water Management District will hold an informational meeting on Dec. 1 to discuss the District’s plan to protect the water quality and water resources of the Matanzas River Basin.

The meeting will be held from 7–8:30 p.m. at the University of Florida’s Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience, Lohman Auditorium, 9505 Ocean Shore Blvd., St. Augustine, located across from Marineland.

Currently, District staff are preparing a petition to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) to designate certain waters in the basin as Outstanding Florida Waters (OFW), which provides more stringent water quality standards than discharges that are allowed in other waters. The District is also working with FDEP to develop improved stormwater treatment rules to address nutrient pollution problems.
